"We have march'd along together in the sun and the rain;
We've fac'd the fight together, and together borne the pain!
And each one tells his story of the wound or the scar --
We were comrades together in the days of the war."

--From the song We Were Comrades in the Days of the War
by Colonel Joe Whitfield and Colin Coe

A review of public collections has revealed a handful of photographs, paintings, and drawings of men who served in the 80th Indiana.  Additional surviving, identified images of 80th soldiers are in the hands of private collectors.  But it is believed that a largest number of such images are in the possession of the descendents and relatives of these men, lovingly preserved through the generations.

What follows is an attempt to create a master list of identified images of the men who served in the 80th.  Many of the 42 images listed below are of the men in their Civil War uniforms.  Some photos include family members.  This list is arranged in alphabetical order by each man's last name as it appears on the 80th's official roster.  When known, alternative spellings of last names are listed after the official name.  Source information for each image is included, as are links you can follow to view images that are posted on this website or elsewhere on the Internet.

If you are aware of an image of a man who served in the 80th, which is not included on this list, then please contact this site's Webmaster, Scott Cantwell Meeker, at <s.c.meeker@80thindiana.info>.  All who contribute copies of such images will be credited by name on this website, both where the image is used and on the list of Modern 80th Indiana Volunteers.  Thank you for any help you can provide.
